Game development in Unity, from prototype to release

2D and 3D games built in Unity, taken from concept and prototype through production, live updates and store release.

Game Development by Mercury Sols

Games succeed or fail on how they feel to play, and that is hard to judge from a document. We start with a playable prototype as early as possible, so the core loop is tested and fun before most of the budget is spent.

We build 2D and 3D games in Unity and C#, with art, animation and levels created in Blender and standard art tools. Unity lets one project run on iOS, Android and desktop, which keeps development and updates efficient.

After launch we handle store releases, updates, performance on lower-end devices and the live updates that keep players coming back.

We define the core loop, audience, platforms and visual style.

  2. 02

    Prototype

A playable build of the core mechanics to test and refine before production.

  3. 03

    Production

Art, levels, features and polish delivered in milestones with playable builds.

  4. 04

    Release and live updates

  • Hourly. Pay for the hours worked, with time tracked and reported. Best for ongoing changes, audits and evolving scope.
  • Dedicated developer or team. Developers assigned to you on a monthly contract, working your business hours as an extension of your team.
  • Maintenance and support. 24/7 monitoring against a 99.9% uptime target, plus fixes, updates and small features after launch, as needed or on a monthly plan.

Can you start from just an idea?

Yes. We help shape the concept, then build a playable prototype so you can test the idea before committing to full production.

Do you create the art as well?

Yes. We handle 3D models, animation and level design, and can work with your own artists or an existing art style.
